Launch of new renewable energy educational project

12 April 2011

In March 2011 UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office launched the project on Development and preparation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) training course for Central Asian decision makers in that area.

This is one of the outcomes of the sub-regional capacity development meeting of RES experts, organized by UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office in cooperation with ISESCO in the end of 2010. The training course materials will be developed by à team of experts led by Pavlodar Innovation University in cooperation with experts from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The main idea of this project is to increase the capacity of stakeholders in application of RES at national level through development of modern training materials for policy makers.

The scope of the project is: collection and review of educational materials on RES that are currently in use in three Cluster countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan); preparation of the syllabus and outline for Renewable Energy e-course for decision makers; development and preparation of RES training course for decision makers (in Russian). All works scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011. Later on developed materials could be used for distance learning and for preparation of new RES courses for CA’s Universities.

UNESCO invites interested organizations and experts to cooperate with the project team and provide RES related case studies, materials or links to the project team.
