The Central Asian Education for All Coordinators meeting

19 December 2008

The Central Asian Education for All Coordinators meeting, organised by UNESCO and hosted by the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO, was held in Dushanbe on 10 December 2008. The meeting brought together education specialists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to review their national EFA Mid-Decade Assessments (MDAs) and to validate the findings of the sub-regional MDA synthesis report that will be published in early 2009.

The participants, representatives from Ministries of Education, UNESCO, UNICEF and non-government expert organisations prepared policy recommendations aimed at translating the findings of the MDAs into concrete actions to ensure the achievement of the six Education for All goals by 2015.

The 2008 and 2009 EFA Global Monitoring Reports were discussed in the Central Asian context.
